Summary

Hosea, a contemporary of Isaiah (for most of his ministry) and Amos (in his earlier years) was the Jeremiah of the Northern Kingdom. His main target was the Northern Kingdom, yet his message was for the people of God. When Solomon died, Jeroboam rebelled and plunged the Northern Kingdom into a prosperous but idolatrous separation. After two centuries of abandoning their heritage, God sent Hosea to present His indictment and declare that He would use their enemies as His judgment. Amos was sent to Israel at a time when the nation feels militarily secure and prosperous, yet is turning to idolatry and abandoning their heritage. Misplaced confidence; false sense of security; abandonment of the greatness of their nation... (Sounds familiar, doesn't it?) In many ways a complement to Hosea, this perspective on the plight of Israel parallels the predicament of our country today. This study contains 13 hours of verse by verse teachings. 1:12.7	The Bible study we call the Berean Avenue of Study is paralleled with what we call the

1:22.9	and knew what their country had to do. We will be dealing in this study with the Berean aspects,
1:29.1	what did Amos say and what did it mean kind of thing. But what your task is to parallel that
1:34.7	on your own, with your own resources, what's really going on here today in our country? Different time,
1:41.7	different place, maybe a similar destiny. And we have resources,
1:47.0	intelligence networks, and other things for the Institute. For those of you that are members,
1:50.3	I encourage you to avail yourself of those. In the United States today, are we militarily secure?
1:55.0	We're closing down bases while the world, while there's worldwide nuclear proliferation going
