Summary

The book of Ezekiel contains some of the most incredible prophecies in the Bible, including detailed description of a Nuclear War and the cleanup afterward. Ezekiel ministered to a nation experiencing judgment for their sins, and may have some lessons for us today. Ezekiel's name means "God strengthens, or God will strengthen." Ezekiel is one of the three that were called Captivity Prophets (the other two are Jeremiah and Daniel). Ezekiel never mentions Jeremiah in his writings, but he does mention Daniel three times. 0:48.7	Well, okay, we're continuing our exploration of the book of Ezekiel.
0:52.2	And we're targeting chapters two and three this evening.
0:57.4	And just by a quick snapshot, as you look at the history from Abraham on, we're at the point of the exile right after David comes the monarchy and then when he dies, Solomon
1:02.8	takes over.
1:03.6	When he dies, there's a civil war.
1:06.2	And one nation goes from bad to worse and gets wiped out, namely the Northern Kingdom,
1:10.5	the Southern Kingdom. The Southern
1:10.8	Kingdom, because of the commitment of God to David, is not wiped out, but simply goes into
1:17.3	exile in Babylon. And so that's what we're really looking at, this period of what's called
1:24.1	the exile, the Babylonian captivity. Specifically, the Babylonian captivity involves three deportations.
1:31.3	The first siege, during which Daniel and his three friends among others, are taken hostage.
1:38.3	Nebuchadnezzar takes over, plants a vassal king, but takes members of the royal family as hostages, and Daniel
1:46.1	is among them.
1:48.8	They rebel, ultimately.
