I grew up in a small town, central California, and the movie theaters there didn't show,

you know, much beyond the Bridge on the River Kwai and the blob.

So I didn't really experience foreign films until I found my way into film school.

And at that point is when I was actually exposed to Kurosawa. And a friend of mine, John Millius, actually, was a huge fan to Kurosawa's.

And so whenever the film was showing, he'd say, oh, you've got to come to see this.

You've got to come to see this.

And after the first one, I mean, the first one I saw was Seven Samurai.

And after that, I was completely hooked. I was completely hooked.

Actually, I talked to a lot of people.

We had to turn away so many folks in Japan from my panel about Kirakurasawa and his influence on Star Wars, the university

stage was pretty small.

And the line was huge and they had to turn away a ton of people, uh, from being able to, to go in and, you know,

people were waiting. And even when people were leaving, um, you know, a couple of people had to

leave midway, uh, you know, immediately their seats would fill in again because there were still people

trying to get in even halfway through. Um, so I was able to record it and, uh, you know,

have the audio for it and I'm really happy to be able to present it. And, you know, I told people,

you know, we'd have that audio and they'd be able to listen to it.
