Summary

Livia is often known by association - the wife of Augustus and the mother of Tiberius - but she becomes a figure of power and influence in Rome in her own right.

This episode is a redux of Episode XXV (from 2016), followed by an all new interview with Sian Phillips who played Livia in The BBC’s ‘I Claudius’ in 1976.

0:52.4	Livia comes from a really important. And on that note, here's Rianna Evans.
0:53.2	Livia comes from a really important patrician family.
0:56.9	And she's born at a very interesting time.
0:59.1	She's born in about 58 B.C.E.
1:01.4	Which means she comes to adulthood exactly when the Republic is
1:05.6	falling apart. So she's from that really aristocratic background. Her father is
1:12.3	from the family of the Cloudy, the Claudiuses.
1:17.0	He's adopted into the Drusus family, so she's often called Livia Drusilla.
1:23.2	That means second child?
1:24.8	It almost certainly does because the ill bit in Drusilla means little.
1:30.5	It's a sort of diminutive, which might mean that she had an elder sister called Livia Drusa.
1:37.4	So that was to identify her.
1:39.2	But we have no evidence for that sister.
1:40.7	We know she had a brother. But as I say she comes from this big important
