I wanted to go out there and chase bad guys. And I never lost the passion the whole time

I was doing the job right out of the academy, just couldn't wait to get to work. Love to working

those midnight shifts trying to go out there and catch crooks, you know, at two, three,

in the morning. Life's pretty simple at three, four in the morning. It's the only people that are

out are newspaper delivery guys, taxi drivers, cops, crooks,oks and victims so i used to just like to do that

difference between good cops and great cops good cops they enjoy like the black and white aspect of

law they enjoy the black and white aspect of policy great cops man you look at the penal code

or you look at your policy manual and you say, okay, I get it.

But how can I work around this stuff? You know, how can I push the envelope a little bit?

Kind of work the gray areas. I think the big thing really that defines who's going to be a good chief or a good sheriff,

how much they don't change from when they start to where they get to their chief spot.
