Summary

Newt talks with Wynton Hall, the director of social media at Breitbart News about his new book, "Code Red: The Left, the Right, China, and the Race to Control AI." Hall describes AI as a defining national security challenge, emphasizing its dual role as a tool and a form of political power, particularly in the context of AI warfare and the race against China. Their conversation highlights the importance of AI in military applications, including cybersecurity and battlefield dominance, and the need for increased investment in AI-related government spending. Hall also discusses the democratization of AI, which could empower mid-level countries and non-state actors, potentially leading to both positive and negative outcomes. Their discussion touches on the challenges of autonomous weapons and the ethical considerations surrounding their use. They explore the broader implications of AI on society, including job displacement and the potential for AI to create new opportunities and challenges.

You know, one of the most interesting and I think understudied aspects of the Trump presidency

0:20.5

is his passion for building things.

0:24.4

It comes out of his childhood, of course, and the fact that his entire career,

0:28.6

he's been out there making money building stuff, building hotels.

0:33.0

He still has the only Hyatt Regency in New York City, a contract he cleverly got done very early in his

0:40.6

career. He has always going around building Trump towers, Trump hotels, Trump golf courses

0:48.3

that shouldn't shock us. Now that he's back in the presidency, he is going around building things, all of which,

0:56.4

by the way, will have some impact of Trump. My two favorites right now are the fight with the

1:02.7

federal court, which I think is almost certainly wrong in the court side, about whether or not

1:09.2

Trump can build a new ballroom. He concluded that there was no place in the court side about whether or not Trump can build a new ballroom. He concluded that there was

1:13.3

no place in the White House where you could have a big enough event to have people come and be

1:19.6

dressed in really fine outfits and have a big evening. And so in a Trump-like manner,

1:25.9

he tore down the East Wing and is now putting in a brand-new, huge ballroom.

1:33.1

He also, however, is putting an entire safe area below the ballroom.

1:40.0

So once they had created the space, they talked to the military about how to create a really safe,

1:47.8

survivable center for the presidency in the East Wing, where they never existed before.

1:54.9

And that's going to be part of this.

1:56.9

Now, what's fascinating is Trump, I think, intuited that if he followed the tradition, the tradition

2:04.7

which, for example, Jackie Kennedy had followed when she created the Rose Garden, then it would
