we are just going to jump right into an amazing interview

that Rebecca and I did recently with Scott McNight

and Laura Barringer about their book, A Church called Tove.

So I have on the podcast some amazing guests.

I'm so glad to joining us.

We have Scott McNight and Laura Barringer, who are the author, the father-daughter

authors of the book, A Church Called Tove, which is awesome. I will hold it up here, Katie, you can put this in the screen. I bought it for you for Christmas. Yes. And then I took it. Yes. Yes. You haven't read it. Yes. I read it and then your dad read it. I have an 18 month old so but loved it and so we have a whole bunch stuff we want to talk about but first of all what is Tove

Tove I'm saying. Oh, you know what? This is feet. This is just payback because you know, we always get our last name said wrong because it's Greg war and so now we're just

from mispronouncing your book there you apologize happens to us but but some

people say Motzel top and so there's some accents on the Hebrew letter holum that is TAV, but we say Tove.

Okay, that's what most Old Testament people say Tove. So tove is the Hebrew word for good and goodness. We focus on

forming a culture that is tove is good because God is good and because people need to be good and we have

lots of church cultures that are not tove. So we focused on tove. So Laura, I was reading early in the book you were telling the story of I think you were sitting in a restaurant when the news about Willow Creek broke and were you going to Willow Creek at the time or had you already left Willow Creek or we had my husband and I Mark and I had left Willow Creek about, it was a few months before the story broke. So I can say honestly,

we did not leave because of the scandal. We were honestly a bit relieved

that we were gone before the story broke.

So yeah, we were gone, but we were members of Willow Creek

for over 20 years and we actually met at Willow Creek, I have a still have a lot of very close friends that attend or did attend. So it's very special to us. We love Willow Creek. It's a part of our history, our marriage history and friendship history.

Right. And so when this, when everything came out about how Bill Hybels had sexually harassed and abused these women and the church had covered it up.
