This is a case that has been suggested a few times. And then when I saw that the anniversary of

the murder was coming up June 22nd, I thought what better time to do it. That is the anniversary of

maybe not so famous of a murder, but with a very famous connection. And that is the murder of

Jean Alroy, who is the mother of one of the best modern crime writers probably out there. James

Alroy. You probably know him best as the writer of LA Confidential, which is also an amazing movie.

If you like that old school style of crime writers like a Raymond Chandler, like the hard boy

right kind of language, he really, he really does that style of writing. So you'll probably like him

if you haven't read any of his work yet. He also wrote a memoir about his mom's murder, which is

pretty much what I used as a source when writing up this episode. It's called My Dark Places.
