Last time King Edward VII had just died in May of 1910, and his son George V now sat

on the throne.

The Liberals had gotten the majority of their reforms passed, and at the same time, severely

weakened the House of Lords.

During their people versus the Pierce campaign, the Irish MPs sided with the left, which

made victory possible, but in return, they wanted the Irish home rule bill brought back to

the forefront.

However, as things stood now, the country, politically speaking, was far too weak to deal

with this explosive topic.

It wouldn't take much for careers to be ruined, or for blood to flow in the streets.

No one wanted to discuss Ireland or Ulster right now, especially Winston.

As the smoke cleared from this latest battle, everyone knew that Churchill was due for a promotion,

and he let it be known that he would either take the Admiralty or the Home Office.

And at the time, only the latter was available.

Though on February 14, 1910, he became Home Secretary, amazingly at age 35.

Winston was well on pace to becoming Prime Minister.

And although his annual salary was now 5,000 pounds, his workload was staggering.

He was responsible for millions of factory workers and miners.

He oversaw national security in the form of Britain's police force.

And coming down from this height, he was even responsible for centering stage plays and
