Welcome everyone to the Battle of Gettysburg Podcast. I am co-host licensed

battlefield guide Eric Linblade and as always I am joined by my co-host

licensed battlefield guide Jim Hesseler. So Jim last week we covered the background and filming of the movie Gettysburg

and also a little bit of background on the book The Killer Angels as well. But we sort of felt as we were getting

into it that you know what that was kind of a good point to put a stop there

and then transition to what we're doing this week which is going to be a deep dive into the

content of those films but we do think that the background was really important

for you to have but I also think of something interest that a lot of listeners may not have had going in.

Yeah, that's right.

Like we said, we want to give you a little bit of context.

How and why the Killer Angels and the Motion Picture Gettysburg came together but tonight on the

podcast now what we're really going to focus on is kind of a rewatch now for

various reasons we're not going to pop in the four hour DVD and play it while you guys are listening to us here

So I will tell you that prior to recording this podcast Eric and I both spent at least four and a half hours of our own personal time for your benefit,

rewatching this movie and taking copyist notes on some of the various aspects of the film that

caught our attention. So you know not only is this a free podcast Eric and I

say every episode we do this at our own time and expense,

but we added an additional four and a half hours

of our time this week for you, the listener.

So you wouldn't necessarily have

to re-watch the movie Gettysburg. We did it for you
