Some were assaulted in their homes, others plucked off the streets. All of them found dead.

That the worst of these offenders, Dyer Grossman and Frances Sheldon, were able to evade

capture and go on living their lives for decades after their evil deeds were

uncovered. This week, we returned to the case of Timothy King of Birmingham. He was last seen

at the Hunter Maple Pharmacy, just a few blocks from his home on the evening of March 16, 1977.

When Tim disappeared, police reacted immediately.

There were no delays, no excuses of runaways,

no flip comments about not having had a kidnapping in the community in years.

To their credit, the Birmingham police immediately set to work

looking for Tim. The newly formed task force focused on his case. We now know that their efforts

were likely misplaced, focusing on the Blue Gremlin vehicle that Tim was seen near the night of the

16th. And I've heard that since the Blue

Gremlin was the focus, officers were pulling over every single Blue Gremlin they could find,
