Good morning and welcome. This is our second service on Sunday mornings. We have two services. The first is our Bible prophecy update.

And second service is our verse by verse study through God's word. Last week, we finished the book of Philemon.

And today, very excited to start in the book of Hebrews. Now, our text is going to be the entire chapter, chapter one.

So you brought lunch with you and we're going to be here for a while, no. And don't get used to it.

This does not mean we're going to do a chapter a week just today, but really looking forward to what

the Lord has for us. So I'll invite you if you're not there already to turn to Hebrews chapter 1.

And we'll begin in verse 1. If I could trouble you to stand for those of you that are here,

you can follow along as I read. If not, where you're seated is fine.

Okay. I read, if not where you're seated is fine. The writer of Hebrews begins in verse one.

In the past, God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways.

But in these last days, he has spoken to us by his son whom he appointed heir of all things,

and through whom also he made the universe. The sun is the radiance

of God's glory and the exact representation of his being,

sustaining all things by his powerful word.

After he had provided purification for sins,

he sat down at the right hand of the majesty in heaven. So, verse four, he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs. For two, verse five, which of the angels did God ever say,

you are my son? Today I have become your father. Or again, I will be his father and he will be my son.

And again, verse six, when God brings his firstborn into the world,

he says, let all God's angels worship him. In speaking of the angels, he says, verse seven, he makes his angels spirits and his servants flames of fire.

But about the son, he says, your throne, O God, that's the father to the son, will last forever and ever.

A scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.

You have loved righteousness, verse 9, and hated wickedness. Therefore, God, your God, has set you above
