The Greetings and welcome to episode 89 of the soda jaker podcast, This is Simon, still saddled with the

Milstone around my neck that is Brian. Joining us today is an Ivan Novello

winning singer and songwriter who for 10 years and counting has served as

lead vocalist and frontman for one of the most successful UK bands of the last decade, The Feeling.

As we record this episode, the group released The eponymous fifth album just a few weeks ago to great acclaim from press and public alike.

We're delighted to welcome the splendid Dan Gillespie cells to the show.

Dan will be with us in a few minutes but first we'll tell you a little bit about him.

He was born in London in 1978. He attended the famous Brit school in

Croydon, South London, which of course has been the

breathing ground for an impressive array of musical talent for many years.

Other alumni include Amy Winehouse, Adele, Katie Melower, Jesse J.

It was at the Brit school that Dan first met future feeling bassist Richard Jones.

Moving in the same mid-90s London musical circles were drummer Paul Stewart and

siblings Kiran and Kevin Jeremiah on keys and guitar respectively.

So the individual members were all on each other's radar, but it would be a few years before the definitive formation of the feeling

during which our guest cut his performing teeth playing guitar for the likes of Jennifer Page and

Scottish pop rock band Speedway. Dan's band mates also busy themselves with session work and in the early

naughties all five convened to play the first of several seasons at a ski resort in the Swiss Alps

performing a variety of pop covers under the name Superfly to holidaymakers.

I think they've cited that period as their Hamburg years.

That's right, yeah. That's when they really hone their musical chops and learn to become a proper band I think.
