writings in a particular the River War for two plus decades. Thank you, Professor Moller,

for being with us today. Well, it's good to be with you. I do appreciate you taking your time

with us. So I was quite frankly shocked when we talked last week when you were telling me that the

first edition of Churchill's book, The River War, when it came out, I think it came out in two

volumes, roughly a thousand pages talking about the River War, but a couple years later,

I don't know how to say this condensed or edited version of that came out. And subsequently,

the first edition hasn't seen the light of day for just over a hundred years.

That's right. The first edition was published on the 6th of November, 1899,

and a new shortened edition, abridged by Churchill, took the place of it, reducing the book to

a single volume in 1902. So for the last hundred years and more, the only edition that's been

circulating except for the 3,000-some copies printed out the first edition has been this
