Summary

On this edition of the ArsenalVision Podcast, Elliot is joined by Tim and Clive to discuss a miserable performance and result at home against West Ham. The pod starts with some overall feelings and the mood at the ground, before diving into the lineup decisions. There’s a bit on why Arsenal struggle against low blocks before individual performances are broken down with a focus on Odegaard and Rice. The key moments are analyzed including subs and the red card. Finally there’s a bit where the season goes from here, beginning on Wednesday at Forest, and how Arsenal prevent a possible collapse. Sometimes a football club is there to protect the feelings and the emotions of its supporters.

0:40.4

And, you know, I was, I was nervous not even about the West Ham game, but about the Liverpool and

0:45.6

city game. There could have been a lot riding on it. And I think watching Liverpool easily

0:49.3

dispatched city could have been a painful experience, but Arsenal spared us that experience.

And I think, at least from what I've seen on social media and the people that have gotten in touch, I haven't seen a lot of appreciation for that. So we're going to dig into whether we need to be more appreciative of the moments where our club steps up and protects our feelings. I'm kidding. We're just going to whine. We're going to bitch and whine the whole time because that's really all there is left to do. I do think we are in that really tough spot. And I said this before the game where, and maybe I said it on an instant reaction, I can't remember, or maybe I just said it to myself in an empty room, also possible. But that we're going to be in this cycle of win and think everything's okay, lose, and go back to blaming the January transfer window.

And so I hope that we can dissect this game in a way that gets at some of the other issues because it is, I think, going to get a little bit repetitive and redundant to just say, well, maybe if we had signed a foot, we know that. There are other things, I think, here to diagnose. So we're going to try to do that. It is a low ebb for the Arsenal season and maybe a bit of a low ebb for this Arsenal project in some ways, just in terms of what it signifies for the moment. So we'll come to that. There's the Forrest game on Wednesday, which we'll probably talk about as well. I will let you know that we started our director of football series over on the Patreon, which is handy because there is no director of football at Arsenal. So it may actually be a job interview as far as we know. Phil did the first one where we pick who we're going to sell and who we're going to buy and there's a budgetary constraint. Arsenal's finances came out. We talked about that a little last week. But essentially what we know is that Arsenal have all the money, all of it. There's just there's all the money in the world for us to spend. And the fact that we didn't spend it is simply, because nobody wants us to be happy. So there's your analysis for the day. Let's introduce the men who will try to find another angle at that. If there is even indeed another angle to be found, one of them is Tim. Hello, Tim. Hello there. Apologies to those of you watching on YouTube. I don't have

2:34.8

my camera on for internet reasons. Yeah, Tim's camera is off because he is currently engaged in

2:40.5

illicit activities that he can't show on. Which is totally fine and we support that. He's wearing

2:46.1

his Spurs shirt. Just remember that. That's all you have to do. Picture Tim in his spurs shirt.

2:49.8

And hear me now is Clive. Hello, Clive. He had to come on camera. Hello, hello. Hey, buddy. All right. So, yeah, first of all, thank you for being here. I know that there are people that just say when we lose like this, they swear of everything. I think there are other people that come for a catharsis. And I think catharsis is about trying to get at explanations without ranting and raving. And that can be a hard line to draw. If you want to
