I think ultimately when people complain about it being too manicured, what they're really saying

is it's too safe.

Does it look too safe?

I know, I know.

And that's what gets me.

That's why I get all grumpy about it because I don't want to see these guys hurt.

I want to see them push the sport without endangering themselves on low percentage moves,

where it's like, yeah, you might crash, you might win, but

yeah, toss a coin.

Friday sees the best and balliest free riders face the cliffs of the Red Bull Rampage. So,

we've got a lot of gnarly people in our sport doing a lot of gnarly things, you know,

whether it's the world's fittest cross-country racers pushing their bodies to the limit,

World Cup downhillers pushing traction and handling to the limit, or even just local rippers

that are going hard without anybody watching. But I don't think it's out of line to say that

rampage is, without a doubt, the rowdiest, scariest, most intense riding out there.
