Now that Lord Randolph was gone, Jenny and Winston were left to recompose their relationship,

and the lady may have found Winnie the boy and annoyance, but now that he was just short

of turning 21, she felt she understood the young man before her.

In short, their relationship morphed into that of a partnership.

Quote, My mother was always at hand to help and advise, but I was now in my 21st year,

and she never sought to exercise parental control.

Indeed, she soon became an ardent ally, furthering my plans and guarding my interests, with

all her influence and boundless energy.

And as his partner, she made her first move.

She contacted the Duke of Cambridge, who could make things happen within the armed forces,

and within two weeks, Winston received his orders.

On February 18th, 1895, Winston reported to the 4th Haasars, and two days later was

awarded his commission.

It read, Victoria, by the grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland,

Queen, Defender of the Faith, Empress of India, and to our trustee and well-beloved

Winston-lettered Spencer Churchill, gentlemen, greeting.

Be reposing a special trust and confidence in your loyalty, courage, and good conduct,

do by these presence, constitute, and appoint you to be an officer in our land forces

from the 20th day of February 1895.

You are therefore carefully and diligently to discharge your duty as such in the rank
