Hello everyone and welcome to the Stephen King cast one man's musings on the works of Stephen King. Each week I will review one entry in the bibliography of Stephen King and the chronological order of publication and today I will be discussing it chapter two. But first I want to take a few moments to talk about some news that has just come up over the last couple days,

and that is casting for CBS's All Access, The Stand, which is going to be directed by Josh Boone. So it had been hinted at. It had been

speculated and rumored, but it is now official that Whoopi Goldberg will be joining the cast as

Mother Abigail. So that is big casting.

Personally, for me,

I don't know how I feel about that casting.

Well, I should say,

I don't like that casting.

Nothing as Whoopie.

I just, at this point in her career,

I just, I think that Whoopie has just become Whoopi.

It's going to be hard for me to not see her as the role that she has played for the last 20 years, which is, you know, herself.

It's a tough role for anybody to play or to be cast in.

This is just not what I expected.

But that is, that, that's one of the big ones.

On the other side of things is, of course, from Mother Abigail, is Randall Flagg.

And this was a big question.

Who is going to play the walking dude? Who is going to

step into those cowboy boots previously worn by Jamie Sheridan in the 1994 ABC TV miniseries?

Those boots were almost walked in by Matthew McConaughey before he strolled across town to play another incarnation of this character.

Walter, the Man in Black, from the Dark Tower.

But we almost had him at his most iconic, which was flag.
