were rediscovering their distinctly

African-American voices.

The Renaissance, the European Renaissance,

was a time in which Europe flowered in art and architecture. the of Imperial conquest and money rediscovering it from the time of Rome.

In France and Spain and England, the Renaissance occurred at different times, but it was always seen

as a return to the grandeur and the education and the

Enlightenment of ancient Rome. That's the rebirth to which the name refers, the
