There's something appealing about the idea of disappearing.

the grind, as some refer to it,

can be appealing, romantic, and even intoxicating.

Living off the land, providing for yourself, and having no one to answer to.

Just you, the land, the sky, the freedom that comes with it, the pure, unadulterated freedom.

Out of the few who have been brave enough or stupid enough, depending on your perspective,

to have done this, actually done this, left everything, friends, family, career, technology, and the comforts of home. Some decide never to return.

People have walked away from civilization or lived on its outskirts for all sorts of reasons. Religious, political, others to evade or indulge.

But the further you place yourself off the grid, the more there is to consider.

How long could you really last?

Could you survive without electricity or running water?

How long before your addictions to Facebook, Twitter,

and other forms of social media

wrestle the freedom away?

Are you willing to hunt?
