This is the podcast where we discuss the cutting edge of growing from a science-based perspective and drawn top experts from around the industry to share their wisdom and knowledge.

Now, to date, I've had few guests on the show that grow using mineral salts or chemical fertilizers,

the majority of my guests using organic production, mainly because I'm big on organics,

and that's the side of the industry I'm most familiar with.

However, there is a lot of science in recent years coming from universities and researchers

using chemical nutrients, and I think as a science-based podcast, we need to cover all aspects

of cultivation.

Not only is there a lot to learn from our fellow cultivators, regardless of methodology,

but I realize that chemical nutrients are here to stay, and they're in pros and cons to using

chemical nutrients as well as organics. Now, if we can grow more sustainably or use more

environmentally friendly methods that reduce salts in our

runoff than I'm all for it. Using nutrients that have a smaller fossil fuel footprint,

reduce runoff, contain less heavy metals, and allow us to maximize plant health and growth

is important on both sides of the industry, and this is something we discussed today in

greater depth. My guest this week is Carrie Peters.

She is the vice president at J.R. Peters

and the formulator of all products and development of new fertilizer formulas

that provide crop-specific solutions to growers' nutritional issues.
