This month is special, however, as one week is simply not enough for the 1986 masterpiece Stephen King's It.

1958. Chapter 4, Ben Hanscombe takes a fall.

Now, just under 160 pages into the text, we are ready to truly dive in. The first 160 pages,

which comprised of chapters 1 through 3 in the first interlude, made for an extended prologue,

introducing the readers to the cast of characters with whom we will follow throughout the remainder of the book.

With Section 2 informing us that it will take place in the summer of 58, which has been

teased so deliciously by King, we know that we're ready to experience the horrors the adult

characters ran away from their entire lives, and the reader can't help but feel a mix of excitement and dread turning each page to find out what occurred that fateful summer.

Before we get to the horrors, King establishes a recognizable world we can all relate to, the last day of school.

If this is King's ultimate story on childhood, then it's important that he truly captures this scene, and he does.

More so, the choice to start that year with Ben is the only choice, really.
