Perhaps it would be more accurate to call it the truce of Amiens, since the agreement lasted

just 14 months.

Britain and France will be at war for the rest of our story.

As I hope I was able to get across, the Treaty of Amiens was a strange occurrence,

a rare confluence of events that created an opportunity for peace without victory, to borrow a phrase.
