I got caught in a speed trap a couple nights ago in rural Texas.

It was a 70 mile an hour speed limit as you go up a hill and right when you get to the top of hill with no warning it dropped to 40 mile per hour and a cop pulled me over and I was busted I wasn't gonna complain or say

anything because I knew he had me I was going 60 and a 70 because I'm a really slow

driver and I got down to 50 and the 40 but when he pulled me me over, he was a really nice guy, real super nice police officer.

And he kept smiling at me and staring at me.

It was making me a little bit uncomfortable because I didn't know what he was getting at.

But he asked for my driver's license, and when I handed it to him, he looked at it.

He says, are you the Otis Gibbs that does the show? And I said, thanks for giving it to him, he looked at it. He says, are you the Otis Gibbs that does the show?

And I said, thanks for giving a damn.

He said, yeah, that's show.

I said, yeah, that's me.

And he said, man, me and my buddies are huge Ray Wiley Hubbard fans.

And we found out about your show by Ray tweeting about it.

And we actually listened to your show

when we're in the squad car making our rounds and we kind of laughed and smiled

and thought about what a small world it was for a little while and finally he decided

he would let me go with just a warning and you know uh, you know, I just wanted to say if you're

out there, I really appreciate it. It was nice to be, although it was strange to be recognized in

the middle of the night. Um, I appreciate you letting me off and I'm intentionally not going to say

the officer's name or where it was that I got pulled over because I don't want him to get in trouble.

But I think we can all agree that Ray Wiley Hubbard works in mysterious ways.
