As we close out this season of modern parents' vintage values, I wanted to leave you with a message

of hope. But I was having a hard time this morning. Early as I went out on my screen porch and

was thinking of you and leaving you that message of hope. The first thing I did was start to sneeze.

The pollen was so thick. And then I got so sleepy. I think that's a pollen too, or it could be age.

And then I looked out in the yard and there was this big brown spot. And even though there was

green grass around it, my eyes only went to that big brown spot. And then I picked up a little bite

of toast, except it wasn't toast. It was a dog treat. It was then that I got overwhelmed. And I

think those are all just small little things. Why would I be overwhelmed? Well, because it opened

up my mind to start to think about kids that I've talked to recently or seen or even heard about

and parents who've been depressed, who've given up. Starting to think about the kids with anxiety.

And then from that I started thinking about the children in Ukraine. So I thought I'd look at my

phone. And as you can guess, I went downhill, really downhill from there. So I decided just to do

what I often do to stare into space. But my eyes went back to that brown spot in the yard.
