my husband, and my brother. Hi, I'm John Paul Vasquez. Hi, I'm Travis Hunter. This week, we were recording live

from Camp Crystal Lake discussing the 1980 classic horror slasher Friday the 13th. Friday the 13th was

directed by Sean S. Cunningham and written by Victor Miller. Admittedly trying to capitalize on

the success of John Carpenter's Halloween, Sean S. Cunningham forged forward

with this film with nothing but the name in mind. But based on the cult embrace of this film,

it would go on to inspire an entire franchise based around the eventual horror icon of Jason Voorhees.

This film was suggested to us by friend of the show Will Brown. He's always been very supportive of the show, and we appreciate him for that and for the suggestion. Thanks, Will. So, what did you guys think about Friday the 13th the first time you saw it? First, I want to say, Will. How you doing? I love you. What I'm Will? I know I watched it when I was younger, but I think this is one of those movies I watched like

once or twice and then that was it uh-huh so watching it I went in with fresh eyes and I'll be

honest I don't hate the movie no I do like it but there's a lot of questions I guess it's It's just really, you know what I mean? There was just

some things that I kind of felt were too long or they... I know one scene in particular.

I was going to say, I think I know what you're talking about. Yeah. But overall, I did enjoy it.

It's a good slasher.

It's a classic.

Yeah, I didn't.

I mean, I do have problems with it, but I mean, of course, we'll get into it as the show goes on.

The funny thing is that Ney and I didn't necessarily grow up with this one either.

Yeah.

I know that it wasn't a staple. We did watch it. The funny thing is I was trying to go back in my memory was I think that the ending for this film was spoiled for us when we watched. Scream. Yeah. I had the same thought. That's the only thing. I think that we, that's the first place we learned of Friday the 13th. Yeah. Before actually watching it. But it's, I mean, it's definitely, it's not a bad film by any means. No. It's a fun slasher. Slashers are just fun, period. They are. I love slasters. Doing this show, I talked about this on Not Your Final Girl, which go listen to their show. They're amazing.
