And we certainly didn't want any injury to come to anybody else.

It's funny how life-changing things can happen on days which start so normally.

Gary Mason drove, as usual, from his home into his office at

Avon Somerset Police in Bristol. It was the 2nd of July 2015. All anyone was talking about was the

along with his boss, Detective Inspector Julie Mackay, had been investigating the cold case

murder of Melanie Road in June 1984. Gary and Julie had become obsessed with solving the case.
