Summary

Starting a Coliseum Video collection can be something that looks like fun on paper. Putting it together is whole different discussion. On installment #3 of Coliseum Chad, "The Chadster" runs through the best direction on how to build your CV library by exploring trends, prices and the rarity of specific tape collections as well as how buying tapes with no direction could be a financial drain as the ways to find old wrestling tapes has gone from a fairly easy task to competing with collectors all over the world in only a few specific places. Also on this episode, we take a listen back to an original Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling interview from April 2015 with Coliseum Video Executive Producer and Writer, Steven Hecht as he explained the process of selecting superstars for tape compilations and how he got involved with the WWF and Coliseum Video's founders.

This is Coliseum Chad episode number three, and you're listening

0:57.0

to it here exclusively on the two-man power trip of wrestling's podcasting Empire. If you didn't know

1:03.3

by now, my name is Chad, of course, of Coliseum Chad fame. And we are going to dive into the third

Once a month, we take a departure from New Generation Declassified to take a look back at

1:18.6

Coliseum Video. And this week, going to turn it a little bit towards where I think you

1:24.5

should kind of aim your collection in the direction of building a library.

1:30.9

That's been one of the questions I've gotten the most since I've started off this little series is how do you kind of piece this together?

1:37.9

What's the best way to kind of economically put together a Coliseum video collection in 2022?

1:47.5

Not many places to go to get these titles like there used to be, but I think one thing we can really say is that the journey of collecting

1:54.5

never changes no matter what. You never know when something's going to pop up in the wild,

1:59.3

and that becomes the fun is the chase and seeing where exactly you might find your next little gem out there in somebody's trash becoming somebody's treasure bin.

2:12.3

You go to a flea market, you don't know what to expect, boom, you find something you're looking for

2:17.6

and you didn't realize it was going to be there. So Coliseum Video becomes kind of that collection

2:23.4

driven desire for me when I go out into the old antique stores and flea markets and garage sales,

2:32.4

which I don't really hit as much anymore, but that's

2:35.2

the only place is to get these things now. If it was not called eBay, or it's not a Facebook group

2:39.5

or a Facebook marketplace, and you're battling all the other collectors that are out there looking

2:44.2

for the same thing, the thrill of the hunt. And that's what we detailed last month with John Pauses.
