Yes, and welcome to a bonus episode of hip hop saved my life.

Basically the publisher advised me to find ways to promote in the book.

So I thought I would put a chapter of it as a little bonus set on this podcast.

And when I say I thought I mean the publisher suggested and I agreed.

So this is a segment from my book Strater Crawley starting now.

It's very difficult to delineate this because it's my voice now and the book is read by me.

But it's starting in three, two, one.

Chapter eight, it's bigger than hip hop.

I love hip hop so much. It's helped form my identity, see me through years of being down and out

and has meant that my dress sense is a bit middle aged dad trying to be cool.

I first got into hip hop when I was a kid and I've never stopped listening to it.

Despite my wife's insistence that I should have grown out of it by now.

My one sadness in my marriage is that I haven't managed to convert Lisa to hip hop.

She hates it, hates it.

It would have been easier to convert her to Islam, which I am trying next as a test.

I just want to point out that I'm not even a Muslim.

There's nothing wrong with it. I'm just not one. What a fucking minefield.

Just this morning I was listening to Jurassic 5 in the kitchen while making breakfast.

As soon as I stopped it, she threw her head back and said thank God for that.

That was Jurassic 5, like one of the most inoffensive rap groups around.
