Summary
In today's episode Blythe and I do a little "Fat Loss Free-styling" where we "chew the fat", so to speak, about fat loss.
We discuss a number of things that we hear "fat loss expert" say that we feel is not entirely accurate or is actually downright wrong.
So, today's episode is about doing a little myth-busting where we discuss things like:
Should you detox to lose weight? Is sugar the cause of obesity, rather than carbs in general? Do you need to eliminate all carbs? Should you totally overhaul your lifestyle?

| 0:55.0 | Okay, what pops into our brains, what kinds of things that we feel people can value from who are listening to the show. Now, this is just kind of a new format. Basically, it's a new format because we just don't have anything prepared for this week, so. |
| 1:10.0 | And that's okay. You know, sometimes free styling is the best. |
| 1:13.0 | We'll see what happens. Sounds good. Sounds great. |
| 1:16.0 | So why don't we start with a segment that I like to call things fat loss experts say, okay? Okay? So basically the premise of this is things that you've heard fat loss experts say that you feel is either partially wrong, totally wrong, or just ridiculous. |
| 1:38.0 | Okay, can I start? Yeah, go for it. Okay, how about cutting carbs out of your diet completely is the best way to weight loss? Okay, very good. |
| 1:49.0 | And I know we've touched on this recently. In fact, the last podcast we did, we talked about how it's not only about, it's not all about carbohydrates. And that is true. |
| 1:59.0 | We address the issue of just too many calories, generally speaking, too many fats, how you can overload on all sorts of things. It's not just as simple as cutting out carbohydrates. |
| 2:11.0 | And in fact, that's just a recipe for horrible food cravings. And eventually the cravings get the best of you. And then you end up binging on carbs and sugars and stuff. And then that just kind of acts like a domino effect that sets the stage for giving up on the fat loss. |
| 2:28.0 | The fat loss lifestyle and its entirety. So yeah, I totally don't agree with that standpoint that we need to eliminate all carbohydrates from the diet. |
| 2:35.0 | Okay, another one. How about, you know, I'm staying in the same sort of realm here. What about eating fat is going to make me fat? |
| 2:44.0 | Right. I know how do you how do you feel about that? I'm totally against that. And I know at one point in time somebody had posted up on the cut the fat podcast Facebook page that we were against fats. |
| 2:55.0 | And there can be nothing more wrong about that statement, although I understand where they were coming from. It wasn't an accusatory statement. They just thought that I was afraid of fats. And that is very untrue. |
| 3:07.0 | In fact, I'm more along the philosophy of you actually have to eat that to be able to lose fat. Now rewind that a little bit and has to be the right types of fats in the right amounts. |
| 3:18.0 | Right. And you know, if we look at a chart over the last hundred years, what we see is that fat intake has increased over the last hundred years, but it's a fairly small quantity enough probably to matter. |
| 3:31.0 | And we probably do consume too much fat. If we're just eating the standard American diet, we're probably consuming too much of everything if we're eating a standard American diet. |
| 3:42.0 | But can point the reality is is that again, if you eliminate fat from the diet, you can't survive and you certainly can't live healthily if you decrease the fat to a level that's too low. |
| 3:55.0 | For example, research suggests that when we consume 20% or less of our calories from fat, then we really start to cause dysfunction in the body. And we can view that based on what happens to the hormones in men and probably in women as well. |
| 4:11.0 | Testosterone levels begin to drop now that can be catastrophic for people because then you don't build muscle as regularly your mood suffers. |
| 4:20.0 | You're you start to feel fatigued. So we know that we need to get a minimum of 20% of our diet from fat. |
| 4:29.0 | And that's important for people to remember because I think that often goes by the wayside when you're thinking quote unquote diet. |
