So this morning, President Biden announced what CNN called a sweeping election year move that is quote aimed at appealing to key

Latino constituencies in battleground states. It's an executive order, surprise, that would allow illegal immigrant spouses and children of US citizens to apply for lawful permanent residency without having to leave the country first.

And my initial reaction to this is, really?

An amnesty?

Joe Biden's approval rating on immigration is 32%.

Donald Trump, his opponent, is the number one immigration hawk in the United States,

and a majority of Americans, including a majority of moderates, independence, men, women and

Hispanics are so fed up with the crisis at the border that they now favor mass deportations.

Quite literally, that is the wording in the poll question.

Now, presumably, Biden will say that the illegal immigrants that are affected by this order are sympathetic and that they didn't

come in while he was president and so on and so forth but I personally am skeptical that he can

make that argument given that the public simply doesn't trust him in this area but perhaps I am wrong as I often am so

Audrey what do you make of this order will it work will it make things worse for Biden and is he right to think

that this is the key to improving his position with Hispanics? I agree entirely

with your take Charlie this is kind of a silly move. I'm just

picturing the ads right now from the Trump campaign with the words amnesty and

then you know pictures of people cross videos of people crossing the border.

I mean, clearly this is a very, this is a losing issue for Biden.

As you mentioned, Trump is a huge immigration hawk.
