As the president of R. M.G. research, Scott Rasmussen has been polling Americans for their opinions for more than 35 years.

He provides political and business leaders with insights from his trademarked counter-polling platform through a gold circle membership program.

I recently received a briefing from Scott on his

research defining the quote elite 1%. He did the research with the support of the

Well, it's great to be here, you know, I love talking about this study and about just the world that we live in.

There's so much in politics where people just kind of go with the flow.

They say the same things they've been saying for decades and we live in an ever-changing world so you have to keep looking at it differently.

When you go back to your early years, which we'll do later on, There was no reason to believe you'd become a sort of national polling guru.

What drew you into this fascination with public opinion?

In 1984, I sold a business, and there was that Reagan-Mondale campaign.

I was a little bit disturbed with the lack of serious discussion on federal budget issues.

I wrote a book on the federal budget,
