Summary

In this episode I chat to Clive Palmer about the Saudi led takeover of Newcastle, the way football has been run to get to this point, whether anything can change at this point, the financial influence of the game, a soon-to-be new competitor for Arsenal to deal with, and more, before we chat about the team, Mikel Arteta, scoring more goals and the upcoming post-Interlull games.

Then, to talk about his new book 'Arsenal for Everyone', it's Dave Seager, who explains the motivation for the book, the backing he got from the club, and some of the stories of fans who experience football differently.

Hello and welcome to a brand new R-Splug R-Scast right here on R-Splug.com.

0:28.0

How are you? Hope you're well. Thank you for being here as always. We are slap-bang in the middle of an interlull.

0:34.0

So there's not been a great deal going on from an Arsenal perspective this week. The most exciting slash interesting thing from an Arsenal point of view is the return to the club of Jack Wilshire.

0:47.0

He's not going to sign for us or anything like that. I think Michael Arter made it quite clear that that's not going to happen.

0:53.0

But he is doing some training with us, getting his fitness up, he's doing his coaching badges, the club are helping him in that regard.

1:00.0

And that's nice. I think that's cool. He's obviously had a difficult period. He was trying desperately to find a club towards the end of the transfer window.

1:09.0

And it really didn't pan out for him. And when he considers only 29 years of age, that is, I guess a huge disappointment for him.

1:17.0

He feels like he's still got something to offer. But there aren't really any clubs out there who feel the same way it seems.

1:24.0

Maybe in January, who knows, but perhaps this is the start of a new era in Jack's career with coaching and everything else.

1:32.0

So that's nice. I just think it's nice when we bring players back and look after a guy who, you know, when it comes right down to it, he picked up all those injuries playing in an Arsenal shirt doing his best for the team.

1:45.0

So if we can give a bit back then, why the hell not? Beyond that, not a huge amount happening. There haven't been any internationals.

1:52.0

We don't know exactly what's going on with our players who are away. I think the first games are this weekend.

1:58.0

And then of course, there's some games in midweek. We don't play again until Monday week.

2:04.0

So we do have an extra little bit of an advantage when it comes to the post interlull games because, you know, we have those extra couple of days over the weekend.

2:13.0

And it's not going to be much fun as there's a whole weekend of Premier League football being played out without Arsenal, but fingers crossed, we can reap the benefits of that when the time comes.

2:23.0

That's down the road a little bit.

2:25.0

Today on the show, in a moment, I'm going to be talking to Clyde Palmer about what's going on with the new castle takeover and the wider implications for football and a bit of Arsenal stuff as well.

2:34.0

Later on, I'll be talking to Dave Seeger, who many of you will know as part of Gunnestown. He's written a new book called Arsenal for everyone.

2:43.0

So we're going to talk to him about that, the circumstances of that book and what it's all about. So stick with us for that.

2:50.0

But like I said, my first guest today, we're going to get straight on with the show, minimal, minimal waffle today.

2:56.0

My first guest you'll know from the Arsenal Vision podcast and more. It's Clyde Palmer. Hi, Clyde.

3:00.0

Hello. How are you doing? I'm all right. Thank you. We got to start by talking about the new castle thing, the new castle United takeover by a Saudi, Saudi Arabian investment company who apparently have nothing to do with Saudi Arabia at all.
