writer Malcolm Gladwell. He is the author of six New York Times bestsellers, including talking to

strangers, David and Goliath, outliers, Blink, and the tipping point.

He is the co-founder and president of Pushkin Industries, an

audio book and podcast production company that produces the podcast Revisionist

History Broken Record, a music interview show, and solvable in which Gladwell interviews innovative

thinkers with solutions to some of the world's biggest problems.

He's here to talk about his new book, The Bomber Mafia, A Dream, A Temptation, and the longest

night of the Second World War. Malcolm Gladwell was one of those people who just has captured the American spirit.

As a minor author by his standards,

I look on his work as just a remarkable achievement.

I'm amazed at the tipping point

how little things can make a big difference back in the year 2000

which really became an amazingly talked about book that I think really gave a lot of people some new insights and then he came back with

blink the power of thinking without thinking in 2005 which again permeated

the culture then he wrote outl, the story of success in 2008, and then what the dog saw and other

adventures in 2009. And finally, David and Goliath, Underdogs, Misfits and the Art of Battling Giants in 2013. And now he's back with a really interesting book on The Bomber Mafia, A Dream, A Temptation,

and the longest night of the Second World War.

And I've had a long interest personally as a historian in World War II and in the bomber mafia and the gap

between what they believed was possible and what was possible. But before we get into

your new book, the bomber mafia, I'm just curious, how did you get in? your mother was a psychotherapist your father's a mathematician that's
