Summary

On this week's show I'm joined by Charles Watts to discuss the post-Interlull requirements for Arsenal - start scoring, and start winning. We chat about the Edu interview, and how the pressure is on Mikel Arteta to produce now, even if there is a medium/long-term plan being implemented. There's also discussion of Thomas Partey, Gabriel Magalhaes, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and lots more.

How are you? Hope you're well. Hope all is good with you and yours. Thank you for being here as always.

Hopefully the interlull has seen you refreshed, recharged, rebuilt, rebuilt.

I hope that none of you out there during the course of this interlull have had to be rebuilt in any way.

I think what I'm trying to say is that the start of the season has been bad.

1:28.0

It was very intense there. Wasn't it the reaction to what happened in those games?

1:35.0

It was pretty full on. So stepping away just a little bit. Not having arsenal to disappoint us or causes moments of frustration and all of that kind of stuff.

1:47.0

Perhaps that was good in the grand scheme of things.

1:52.0

We have to go again. We have to start getting these things that are fundamental to any football team season, which are goals and points.

2:03.0

We haven't got any of those yet. We need some of those starting this weekend.

2:08.0

There was stuff going on after the Man City Game because the transfer window closed. We brought our signings to six with the signing of Tekahiro Tamiya Su from Bologna to add to those of Ben White, Nuno Tavarez, Albert Sambi-Lakonga, Martin Oda-Guard and Aaron Rhymesdale.

2:22.0

A new fresh-faced approach to Arsenal Squad building, which was good. Perhaps there weren't quite as many departures as we might have liked.

2:40.0

I don't think we raised as much money as we would have liked to in the transfer market. Nevertheless, the money was there for the incoming deals.

2:52.0

I suppose that is the most important thing in terms of getting this team going again, a new approach, some fresh faces, some players that we can get behind.

3:02.0

Some players who we hope are going to be really good for us, but in the very short term, they just simply haven't disappointed us. They're like clean slate players coming in and we can project onto them all the good things that we hope they can bring to the team.

3:20.0

And hopefully, at the expense of some of the players whose slates are less than clean, they're dirty slates, muddy slates, filthy nasty dirty slimy slates. In some cases, slates that somehow keep managing to get the same dirt on it over and over and over again.
