Summary
In this bonus Arsecast episode, I'm joined by James β not to talk about Arsenal, but the release of his brand new book: The Champ and The Chump. His grandfather, Terry Downes, nicknamed 'The Paddington Express', was a boxer and held the world middleweight title for a time in the 1960s. James is a comedian, writer, actor, and podcaster who has spent most of his life actively avoiding being punched in the face. We chat about how the book came about, the life and times of a world champion, how James has had to deal with certain issues in his own life, and lots more.
You can get The Champ and The Chump at your local independent book shop, from all the big online retailers, and as an audio book β which might be good for those of you listen to the podcasts. We also have a
couple of signed copies to give away too.

| 0:39.4 | as well. It is called The Champ and The Chump. I could start to describe it for you, but |
| 0:45.0 | I think it's fair to say it covers in detail two very distinct lives. James and his grandfather |
| 0:51.8 | who was for a time the middleweight champion of the world and James of course you know is |
| 0:57.2 | an actor, a writer, a podcaster, a very different life from that of his grandfather. But there |
| 1:03.0 | is a story behind this, there's a story about the book how it came to be and what it's |
| 1:08.4 | filled with. So rather than me prattling on let's talk to James about it right now. Hello |
| 1:12.8 | James. Hello mate, how you doing? I am very well thank you. You'll be glad to hear. |
| 1:17.0 | We're not going to talk much Arsenal or any Arsenal because there's no Arsenal has |
| 1:21.2 | happened since last we spent a good hour and a half talking about it. So there's no need |
| 1:26.0 | no Madison news, no hour news before all the tweets inevitably asking us. Just say something |
| 1:32.9 | that all the accounts can then do a tweet about James McInickal says. If the aggregator accounts |
| 1:40.8 | would like to start tweeting out just nice things about my book then that would be okay |
| 1:44.6 | with that. Yeah, fairly good coverage I have to say. Look the book first off congratulations. |
| 1:55.4 | Thank you. Because it's really good. Oh thanks man. I really enjoyed it and yeah I found |
| 2:04.4 | it very funny and interesting and touching and moving and I'm not it's not that I wasn't |
| 2:13.6 | expecting it to be good you know what I mean but I was really yeah hang on what you saying? |
| 2:18.4 | No, no, no, I'm not I wasn't going to do like a sympathy podcast or anything like that |
| 2:22.6 | but it was just like I didn't quite know how it was going to go how it was going to come |
| 2:28.4 | together how it was going to be put out on the page because let's sort of go back on this |
