Coach, you already know repetition matters, but what if you could combine reps with real-time data that shows exactly why a shot goes in or misses?

Let's get started. Welcome back to the hardwood hustle, Sam and I today. And we're going to talk about something I think is really important to coaches. And sometimes it's like, hey, these three things, these two things, or these four things you need to work on. I want to talk offense or we're going to talk defense. but we're going to talk something a little bit more, you know, as you hear you say, like on the art and science side, like a little bit more on the art side. And it's like figuring out like how much is too much, when do I need to add more. And this is a common conversation you hear coaches have, and we've had this conversation multiple times.

But, like, you know, sometimes when, when, I think about like, you know, Bill Self at Kansas, right?

1:51.8

And I saw a quote by him the other day.

And it's like, listen, honestly, like with NIL and everything, he's like, we don't have

1:59.0

NBA guys coming off the bench that whatever. And he's like, when we were winning so many games, he's like, I'll be honest with you. Like, our jimmies were just better than your Joe's, you know? And so like how much is too little and how much is too much? Like, well, everybody loves what they're running and loves what they're doing because they're winning. They're going to play national championship. up there four or whatever it might be and it's like oh that's perfect i need to be doing this or i need to be doing that well he's now in a situation you know the last couple years that he hasn't been in where they won i don't know how many straight championships in the in their conference it was like 10 12 something like that right now in the last couple years they're couple of years, they're in the battle, and now they're a little bit in the middle of the pack. And he's like, hey, we're, he's just like us now. All of us coaches out there are searching for like, what's the right answer? You know, how much do I play this guy or that guy? Do I play some more zone because we're struggling with our man? Do we add you know, do we add some more sets because we're struggling to get the ball in the pain, and struggling? He's in the same place. And like it happens to everybody, right? Like all coaches and some coaches go a longer time and they feel like they have all the answers because they're just winning, right? And I know that feeling. Like when we're winning a ton, it's like, it feels like you're pushing all the right buttons. And it's like, yeah, we'll do this and we'll add a little bit of this. And it just feels like you can't hit the wrong button. And then there's other times like things happen. Well, you have injuries. You're young. Maybe your school has less talent or whatever it might be. And you can't figure out to figure how to hit any of the right buttons. It feels like none of the right buttons are being hit. Right. You're trying to feel like, okay, do I keep this thing really simple? And like we're just going to run our base offense and have two set plays and we're going to play straight up, man, but then you keep getting beat.

3:41.0

So then you're like, well, how do I add more?

3:42.0

Now do I add zone?

3:42.8

But then when you add zone, it feels like you give up every bucket.
