Our first word today is Spartan.

Spartan, that's spelled SPART-T-A-N, Spartan.

So Spartan, you may have heard of this word

because you might think of the Greek city state of Sparta. So obviously I always talk about the Greeks and a lot of the

words we'd learn have a Greek or Latin origin and this is a time when I answer to talk about the Greeks because

often when we talk about the ancient Greeks we're not talking about a country

called Greece well kind of are, but that country at that time was

split up into different city states like Athens and Sparta. And Sparta was known for the warriors basically. They were known for

being a very warrior warlike culture and the Spartans lived in a city state called Sparta.
