Let's get started.

Welcome to the Hardwood Hustle. Sam and I back here. We're going to talk about something

0:22.8

specific, but I actually think it'll be helpful for coaches, high school coaches. I think it'll be

0:29.7

helpful for parents. I think it'll be helpful for players. I think it'll be helpful for travel

0:35.4

coaches as well, specifically talking about

0:39.1

what to get out of your travel experience. You know, so AAU, two line, whatever you want to call,

0:46.9

whatever travel ball you're doing during the summer, what do you want to get out of it?

0:52.4

I think this is a really crucial question. And it's sp burned from from this. We've talked about this before, but maybe not from this angle. I think it's an interesting angle to talk about it from. It's like, make your money work for you. Like it's absurd. You know, it came from a post that you put out there, Sam, and I've seen a ton of these for the last couple of years, how much it is to get into games. We've seen $40 per day. We've seen, you know, 100 for the weekend. We've seen. But, I mean, a typical one, I mean, just an average tournament you're going to play in is usually 20 to 25. And then some people are charging for parking parking and you know before you know it this thing

1:30.7

can get really dang expensive you're probably paying to be on a team then if you pay to be on

1:36.3

the team then you're you're paying to travel if you're going far away places which can be hotel

nights whatever i mean we could talk about like thousands of dollars on a weekend to go. And then, you know, let's just say, you know, I got a family of six. I want to take one to watch one of my kids, you know, that one of those tournament prices. We saw $40 per. That's $200 to get my family in for the day. And if we want to go Friday, Saturday, Sunday, $600 to get in the gate and watch them play. I mean, honestly, having a hard time fathoming that. So what we want to talk about is make sure that you're putting your money to work. Make sure that it's actually working for you. So, Sam, I didn't prep you for this one because you've done this for a long time.

And I just wanted to get your unfiltered thoughts on this.

2:21.6

And as I was thinking about it, there was three different things that came to mind.

2:26.2

Like, what could you possibly be paying for?

2:30.0

And one is player development.

2:38.8

You're paying for the development of your young daughter, son,

2:45.2

whatever. And there's the physical development, you know, the ability to make better mental decisions. There's confidence. There's a whole bunch of things that go into player development,

2:49.7

but you're paying for the holistic player development piece. Another one you could be paying for is game reps.

2:56.6

Another one you could be paying for is there anything I'm missing on what you could be paying

3:01.7

for, you know, before we dive into each one of these, you know, helping parents and even high school coaches to advise their players
