Today we are talking about a Muppet Christmas Carol, the 1992 film directed by Brian Henson,

screenplay by Jerry Joel, and based on the novella by Charles Dickens. I'm joined by the lesson from

the screenplay team, Trisha Arand. Hello, everybody. Brian Bittner. Hello, hello. And Alex Cayetos.

Hi. So I am very excited to talk about a Muppet Christmas Carol because this was my version of a Christmas

Carol that I grew up with. It was very fascinating to revisit it as an adult,

which we can talk about. And it was fun to do this video about a Christmas carol and how the

structure of it is so simple and classic and all the lessons that can be learned. So we want to

talk about some of that structural stuff from a Christmas carol and this film and how it kind of

manipulates that structure. And there's a lot carol and this film and how it kind of manipulates that

structure. And there's a lot of darkness in this, both film and in the story. And so I think it's

interesting how this movie juggles those things. I want to touch on that. And just the Muppetness of it all,

because we have not yet talked about a Muppet movie yet. Yay. All these things. But I'd like to start with you, Brian.

So you were the one that pitched the idea of doing a Christmas Carol and a video on Christmas

Carol.

How did you arrive at that idea?

And what did you want to talk about with it?

Well, it started just almost one year ago where I was on a, it's called a plane, which

is how we got around back then.

The before times.

Yeah.

And I was watching, I'm up at Christmas Carol, appropriately enough.
