Hello, and welcome back to another episode of the Feminist Mormon Housewives podcast.

I'm your host, Lindsay, bringing you another,

and another episode in the year of polygony series where we try to understand the practice of Mormon

plural marriage. And we're getting into some really messy, complicated history, as if we

haven't done that already. I'm going to be talking about the events

leading up to the manifesto today, and I just want to give you a heads up that because of the way

that my schedule has been and the way that I've constructed this history, we're going to go a little

bit out of chronological order. For the next few episodes, we're going to, we're going to go a little bit out of chronological order. For the next few

episodes, we're going to bump back and forth. And I have some historians lined up that because of

their schedules can't do it until later. So just follow us along for the ride and hopefully

you'll know the history enough that you'll be able to also put it together yourself.

So let's start with what we know about the manifesto.

We know some things. We know that in 1855, counselor Hebertsy Kimball would say, quote, the principle of plurality of wives will never be done away.
