Hey everyone, Ainsley Arment here, and this is a special episode of the Wild and Free podcast.

Every generation has its own moment of national crisis.

Our parents had the 1973 oil crisis, Watergate, and the Kennedy assassination.

Our grandparents had two world wars and the Great Depression.

And now, with the coronavirus pandemic sweeping

the world, we have hours. Restaurants are closed. Schools are shut down, and people are losing

their jobs. Everyone's feeling a little nervous about what the future holds, to say the least.

In the midst of all this, parents all over

the world have suddenly found themselves responsible for not only working from home, but also

teaching their children. While many school districts have continued to offer some form of

virtual learning that counts for academic credit, others simply sent students home. Whether they want to or not,

millions of families are homeschooling for the very first time. Now, I should clarify, this isn't

really homeschooling. I mean, none of us were prepared for this. This is quarantine schooling,

and if you ask me, it shouldn't really be called

schooling at all. Aside from trying to figure out how to pay the bills, there's a real fear

among parents that their kids will fall behind. I've seen the gamut of emotions about this

school situation, shared on social

media and in conversations with friends and family. Anger, sadness, overwhelm. Parents don't feel

equipped and are upset that they are now responsible for their child's education. Parents are sad for

their kids, who are also sad about missing sports

and friends and familiar routines. Parents are overwhelmed at figuring out how to motivate

their kids to do their work, overwhelmed at having to do this while working from home, overwhelmed
