Welcome everyone to this episode of the Bible for Normal People.

Today our topic is who is Yahweh and where does he come from?

And we have just a brilliant scholar.

I mean, it's having a hard time keeping up with all his Bible passages.

He was thrown out in names and all this stuff. Mark Smith.

Yeah, me seem like an odd title for a podcast.

You know, who is this Yahweh? Where's he come from?

It's actually not a bad question because, you know, the, the,

once you dig into the Bible a little bit, questions are raised about maybe the

complexity of a question like that.

And this is what scholars do and Mark does it as well as anybody.

He teaches at Princeton Seminary.

He's been there for about a year or so now.

And I've known him for a few years and he taught at Yale for a long time.

And all sorts of stuff like that.

But his, his PhD is in, you know, the Bible, the Hebrew Bible, Old Testament and

the ancient New Eastern world and looking at all that context and stuff.

But one of the books he'll mention is at the end is the early history of God,

which is a lot of what we're talking about today.
