On this episode of Neutral, the 2024 Republican presidential primary debates will begin on

Wednesday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The location is significant because it's where the Republican Party will hold its national

convention next July.

Brett Baer and Martha McCallum of Fox News will host the debate.

All the major Republican candidates will be there, except the frontrunner, former president

Donald J. Trump.

Although Baer will be less exciting and less watched without Trump, it is still an important

milestone in the evolving presidential nomination campaign of 2024 and Callistan I will be sitting

right there watching the debate.

And I want to start this podcast by giving you my take on each candidate.

You have a lot of candidates out there who are ambitious, eager, smart, hardworking.

They all would like to be the alternative to Trump.

And so what they're doing Wednesday night is they're auditioning to see whether or not

they're the one who emerges.

Going into this six months ago, we would all have expected that it was governor Ron DeSantis

of Florida who'd been a very successful governor.

Turns out running for president's a lot harder than running for governor.

He may not quite be ready to hit Major League pitching, which since he was the captain of

the EO baseball team, I think is an almost funny parallel.

And as a result, he has shrunk substantially from the position of being the clear alternative

to being the leader among several possible alternatives.
