Sam and I, we're going to talk today about the multitude of changes that are happening in the game of basketball, the landscape of basketball, all the way from what's going on in AAU, what's going on in girls basketball, officials, NBA ratings down, the change in parents, analytics.

Like, there are so many things changing.

These are probably a lot of conversations you have with fellow coaches or friends or just

maybe at home where you're just kind of thinking about, gosh, there's a lot of things changing

in the game of basketball.

And there probably always will be a lot of things changing in the game of basketball.

I think it's important to stay up with what is changing.

I think about my time, my career, and, you know, almost 25 years of college coaching and just

the changes that have happened in the last three to five years, you know, then you reflect back

eight to ten. And here's a thought for you, Sam, I want to what you think about this.

But I think things, just like probably life in the world, things are changing in a more rapid pace than ever.

So if I look at the first 10 years of my career, there were changes.

But it wasn't fast.

It was, you know, every year there was a little bit here and a little bit there and some changes maybe on how

officials called hand check and not hand checks, small minor things. And then when I look back

over the last three to five years of my career, and I think about how much more parents are

engaged. I think about how recruiting has changed. I think about NIL. I think about the transfer portal. I think about the number of officials leaving the game. I think about girls basketball numbers. Their variety of sports, you know, where they're seeing playing more volleyball or soccer, even women's flagged football. And so they're competing for numbers.
