of look into it tonight legendary survivalist Gary Golding joins us what's up Gary

Gary what's up how you doing I'm doing great. And he's one of the stars of the hit TV show, The Naked and Afraid.

Gary, how the hell did you end up a survivalist? Can you take me through your, your upbringing,

where were you born? I know they call you the Tarzan of Los Angeles, correct?

Yeah. Well, you know, it's a funny story. When you get into it, it's got this whole sort of

like holistic background in a weird sense. It was just natural because people, I'm from Redondo Beach.

I'm from like L.A., right? People go, how'd you end up like this? And so the story goes to my

grandmother's house and my great, my grandfather, my grandmother would put me in the backyard and they

had oranges, peaches, apricots, pomegranates, lemons, blackberries, strawberries.

And my grandmother would put me back there barefooted and it was all closed in.

She'd be doing her housework and she said, just, she set me loose with the fruit.

She said, just don't eat the seed. You get a tummy ache.

And so I learned from a little child that you eat off of plants. You eat off of trees,

right? And so from a little kid. And so then what happened, which is just really curious,

and I know you're into all this kind of like holistic stuff. It's pretty cool. I see some of the

stuff you do. I started, I remember I ate one of the

lemon seeds and I was like, oh no, I'm going to get a tummyache. And I was a little boy, right? And I'm like,

I didn't get no tummyache. So then I ate three, then I ate five. I started running experiments from a little

kid, right? And then I was eating 10 and I started eating watermelon seeds in front of my family and stuff at like at picnics and just eating 50, like 100 of them at a time, just eating apple cores.
