| 0:00.0 | Hey, everybody. Welcome to Crystal Kyle and Friends. Today we're going to be talking to |
| 0:10.5 | Johan Hari. Yes, author of a number of that selling books. You may know him from Lost |
| 0:15.8 | Connections or chasing the screen. His new book is called Stolen Focus. Why you can't |
| 0:21.0 | pay attention and how to think deeply again, all three of those books are really worthwhile, |
| 0:25.5 | but I'm excited to get into this. Yeah. So one of them is on the drug war and why you |
| 0:28.7 | think drugs should be legalized based. Another one's on depression and why he thinks basically |
| 0:35.2 | modern society has led to a drastic increase in depression and how maybe the pills might |
| 0:40.4 | be overprescribed. And the new one is about how none of us can hold our attention on anything |
| 0:46.4 | for more than like 12 seconds, which is his kind of truth. And how its capitalism's fault |
| 0:52.2 | basically not just big tech, but also just, you know, the the profit motive has sort of stripped |
| 0:58.8 | our our intelligence and our focus away from us in service of making us good little consumers. |
| 1:03.9 | So get into all of that with him. Yeah, really interesting guy. I think you guys are going |
| 1:07.5 | to enjoy it. But before we get into that, there's a poll that came out the other day. Now, |
| 1:12.5 | I will say the source here is Rasmussen. Rasmussen is well known for being a right leaning |
| 1:16.6 | pollster. Sure. Having said that, I don't know how even if you like factor in the right wing |
| 1:24.7 | bias, this these are still astounding numbers. Well, and also the I used to be a lot more skeptical |
| 1:31.4 | of pollsters like Rasmussen. But then we found out that the normal years, they were actually |
| 1:36.2 | a little more accurate. They were more accurate. I mean, to be fair, they were terribly wrong in |
| 1:40.0 | like 2012 with Rodney. But now in the modern era, and pollsters don't really know what's going |
| 1:45.5 | on. But there seems to be an under sampling bias in Republicans, Republicans, and especially |
| 1:51.1 | Trump supporting Republicans. So all of that is a long way of saying it's worth looking at some |
| 1:55.6 | of the data that they have. So the question is, do you agree or disagree with this statement? |
