Born in Chicago, Alex is the ringleader of Mild High Club. It's a group out of Los Angeles,

KCRW called A Stone in the Zen Garden of LA Slack Funk Psychodelia.

That is an incredible sentence, by the way.

But what's particularly special about Alex and Mild High Club

is that the music sits at the intersection of old and new.

Sure, he has modern contemporaries like Mac-de-Marco, Ariel Pink, Silk Roads, drug dealer, many of whom

he's collaborated with at one point or another.

However, a lot of a sound comes from music history, the soulful rock of Taunrungrin or Steely Dan, or the jazzy undertones of Emma Jamal or Dorothy Ashby.

For example, here's the title song from their latest record, Skip Tracer. Oh, that's our town.
