the French Navy fights back. Last time, elements of General Patton's army had come ashore around the city of Fadala,

itself just north of Casablanca. The tide had been rough on the

Americans, as had the French artillery. Still, the Americans were on shore, and soon Fadala was theirs.

That being the case, the naval component with Patton started heading south towards Casablanca,

but now, coming at at them were seven enemy

destroyers and seven submarines. The idea of Casablanca's Vice Admiral Machilier was to go after the

transports, thus cutting off the invaders from further supplies and tropping them on shore.
