The Americans, have landed.

Last time, as the main landings of Torch took place during the early hours of November 8, 1942,

two special operations were carried out at the center and eastern

task forces locations. Operations terminal and reservists were to capture and hold the port

facilities at Algiers and Iran, respectively, yet both failed. Allied troops were killed or captured, Iran's port would be wrecked,

but not Algiers, as the Vichy troops there had been too busy attacking Lieutenant Colonel Swenson

and his men. Still, the main landings went on as scheduled. More or less. The Eastern Task Force, which would take Algiers,

was under the command of Vice Admiral Burrow, Royal Navy, of 33 transports, carrying just over

32,000 men, of which some 22,000 were British. Having said that, U.S. Major General Charles Ryder was in command of the ground
